Default Judge blocks parts of Arizona immigration law

The overall law will still take effect Thursday, but without the provisions that angered opponents — including sections that required officers to check a person's immigration status while enforcing other laws.

The judge also put on hold parts of the law that required immigrants to carry their papers at all times, and made it illegal for undocumented workers to solicit employment in public places.

So basically the law has been neutered to match the current Federal law...crap.
"Drug use, some might say, is destroying this country. And we have laws against selling drugs, pushing drugs, using drugs, importing drugs. ... And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up,"-Rush Limbaugh Oct. 5, 1995 on his television show.

Federal Law requires immigrants to carry their papers (greencard) at all time. That was made clear to my wife when she got hers. Federal Law also makes it illegal for undocumented workers to solicit employment. Hard to see how the judge can justify nullifying a state statute when the federal statue does the same thing.

This will eventually be overturned once it hits the supremes.

They will eventually offer amnesty. It is coming.

The residents need to take up arms and drive out the intruders.
Mark my words. The American economy will only start to recover when it sees the Community organizer headed out the door or a conservative Congress in place to stop the great Marxist. And even then he will try to take credit for what has been nothing but failure.

Because "Joe Sixpack" is so great at determining who is and isn't citizens with no training. You continue to deny it, but your post practically says "just shoot some Mexicans." Sorry, I have to believe you are a racist.

Sorry, but no citizen gets to be judge, jury, and executioner.

No, Vurbs is correct. They need to arm themselves, this situation is getting violent:

Back when this happened, there were dozens of other stories relating similar episodes. The border-crossers routinely ransack homes once into US Territory.

Sometimes the most violent activity is at the hands of the Mexican Cartels, and the Soldiers/Police that protect the smuggling routes.

We can argue self defense another time. Vurb is talking about going on the offensive.

Also, that situation involves the Mexican drug war. A separate, tho related, issue. The guys standing outside your local Home Depot (which, by the way, I have never seen in Ohio) are not secretly planning on killing you.

    http://www.cnn.com/2010/OPINION/07/2...law/index.html

U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton ripped the guts out of SB 1070 on Wednesday, striking down the most egregious and indefensible parts of Arizona's immigration law.

That's exactly what you should do when confronted with a monster -- in this case, the monstrosity of a law that usurps federal authority over immigration enforcement, doesn't just allow for racial profiling but requires it by allowing police to arrest people they suspect are in the country illegally, makes it a state crime to ask for work if one is undocumented and requires legal immigrants to carry documents proving their legal status.

If I were grading this law, I'd give it straight D's. It's divisive, dangerous, dishonest and dysfunctional. It's divisive because whites and Latinos see the law differently; according to polls, about 70 percent of whites support it, and 70 percent of Latinos oppose it.

It's dangerous because, as Phoenix Police Chief Jack Harris argues, local police shouldn't have to enforce immigration law at the cost of reallocating resources aimed at tackling other kinds of crime.

Arizona asked an appeals court Thursday to lift a judge's order blocking most of the state's immigration law as the city of Phoenix filled with protesters, including about 50 who were arrested for confronting officers in riot gear.

Republican Gov. Jan Brewer called U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton's Wednesday's decision halting the law "a bump in the road," and the state appealed to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco on Thursday.

I think they should have the Military set up camp and just start sniping people as they cross the border illegally. After 20 or so lose their head from a bullet and nobody knows where it came from they will stop trying to cross. Even if they don't at least the military would get some live sniper practice in.
