I thought his speech in Turkey was great. He bluntly put it on the table of the Muslim countries that we are strictly after Al Qaeda, no one else and asked for their help. Leaps and bounds better than Bush's "with us or against us" rhetoric.

I have not seen it yet, but that is good if that is how he laid it out

I like the tone Obama's taking concerning the Middle East and Afghanistan, he's burying the book on the cowboy-era Bush. Hopefully our country can undo the "hatred" towards Muslims and come to terms with the fact that Al Qaeda makes up less than 1% of Muslims, that is the true damage that Bush's rhetoric did.

Yeah, some can not seem to seperate the terrorists and the general Muslim population. Two totally different groups of people.
That said, I think Bush's approach had some good aspects to it, and I think Obama's does also in this matter. We need to show them that we are not out to get everyone, but we also need to make sure that we are willing to do what needs to be done when the time comes. I guess we will have to wait and see.

IMHO I think Bush's attitude made a lot of countries not trust us or want to help us. Maybe Obama will bring back the respect we use to have instead of the disrespect that countries had toward us.

Also, in order to destroy Al Qaeda, we have to unite the Muslim nations against Al Qaeda.

I liked his speech but he was giving it to the Choir. Turkey has been our alley in the middle east for some time now. Heck they are fighting with us in Afghanistan. Bush's policy must remain in tact if we are to succeed. If you are harboring terrorists and not taking action against them then you are not with us.

Just because the speech was in Turkey doesn't mean it was only directed at Turks.

This is why I wish I had Al Jazera English, so I could see what the Muslim world was thinking about this.
