North Korea convicted two American journalists and sentenced them Monday to 12 years of hard labor for crossing into its territory, intensifying the reclusive nation's confrontation with the United States.

That's EXACTLY why they are doing this. They want bargaining chips to get more aid.

Or, they are showing off their military capabilities to display power over their people while transitioning from Kim to another leader.....

The Army will not starve. They are the only ones in N K that get to eat good. Thats why so many join.
