General Motors Corp. took a key step toward its downsizing on Tuesday, striking a tentative deal to sell its Hummer brand, while also revealing that it has potential buyers for its Saturn and Saab brands.
GM has a tenatative agreement to sell its rugged Hummer brand to Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Co. of China, said a person briefed on the deal.

To me, they ceased being an icon when they eliminated the H1.

AM General still makes the millitary Humvee (and they made the H1 until it was gone).

All this is is the sale of the brand name and the crappy H2 and H3.

I would be glad if they got rid of Saturn and Saab, too.
