If torture stops just one dirty bomb against U.S. interests, then I'm for it.

The detainees are leaving GITMO and coming to US soil where they should be tried in a normal court.
Given their miss treatment theres a excellent chance they might be freed.
we should stand by our values no matter what

Many are facing trials yet Obama cannot figure out what court to try them in. They are not just "detained"

do you feel that way about us citizens in our country?

does that mean police should be using torture?I feel that way about all terrorists no matter their country. They should be immediately tortured and then publicly executed with no regard to nationality, race, age, sex, religion etc.

If they are terrorist, and they are a threat, especially to our country and they can give information, then yes torture should be used. I don't care if they are Iranian, French or American.

This is OLD news! We all know Khalid's role and who planned and took action on 9/11. The real question is this: Why is the NYTimes publishing this article now??? Is it possibly b/c Obama is going to expand the War on Terror instead of ending it???

I think Obama is planning on getting Bin Laden, what Bush was suppose to do but took a side step and went to war against Iraq for no reason at all.

In order to stop a dirty bomb and save 1000's of lives, they should torture my neighbor.

Obama is going to expand the war in Afganistan and possibly into Pakistan which is major escalation. If he's doing that to get Bin Laden, then America needs to understand exactly what the repercussions are: creating more terrorists and hate towards America, the exact country he said needed to correct its view in the world. Escalation also means more troops and more money we don't have!
Obama is also going to leave 50,000 troops in Iraq to protect America's oil interest and Obama has approved 56 long term military bases in Iraq.
This is all far from ending the War on Terror and the oil war in Iraq.

They aren't terrorists, they are common criminals, and when they are caught they are caught, the inmates will torture them.

Yes I do, but it's not like he's surprising anyone with a war against a country that doesn't even harbor terrorists.

I can see taking POWs, use them for more info and leverage. If you can't torture them then kill them and do not take them prisoner. Remember These are not enemy soldiers. These are people on the battlefield shooting and blowing us up. IMO if you are shooting at our troops and not in uniform then there should be no surrender or POW option for you.
