"I wasn't briefed, I was informed that somebody else had been briefed about it," she said.
This is all going to come out, with her looking like a fool. Oh wait....

Why can't she take a lesson from the President (changing position on whether to releases the detainee photos) and admit when she was wrong?

Or at least just shut the heck up?

Pelosi contended that Democrats did what they could to stop the use of waterboarding. The senior Democrat on the Intelligence Committee, who received the 2003 briefing on the practice, sent the CIA a formal letter of protest, she said.
But Pelosi defended her own lack of action on the issue, saying her focus at the time was on wresting congressional control from Republicans so her party could change course.
I thought it was wrong, but I was more interested in gaining more political power than doing anything about it....give me a break

How does gain the role of Speaker of the House? Is it an appointment by the majority party?

How does gain the role of Speaker of the House? Is it an appointment by the majority party?
This is from Wiki.....but
The Speaker is elected on the first day of a new session of Congress. The election is presided over by the Clerk of the House of Representatives and each party nominates a candidate. Whoever receives a simple majority of the votes is elected and, after election, is sworn in by the Dean of the House, the chamber's longest-serving member. There is no requirement in the Constitution that the speaker must also be a current member of the House of Representatives to serve as speaker; however, every speaker elected has also been an elected representative.
In modern practice, the Speaker is chosen by the majority party in the House; it is usually obvious within two to three weeks of a House election who the new Speaker will be. It is expected that members of the House vote for their party's candidate. If they do not do so, they usually vote for someone else in their party or vote "present." Voting for the other party's candidate is dealt with very severely. For example, when Democrat Jim Traficant voted for Republican Dennis Hastert in the 2001 election for Speaker, the Democrats stripped him of his seniority and refused to appoint him to any congressional committee.

It is clear that after the 9/11 attacks Mrs. Pelosi was briefed on enhanced interrogation techniques and the valuable information they produced. She not only agreed with what was being done, she apparently pressed the CIA to do more.
But when political winds shifted, Mrs. Pelosi seems to have decided to use enhanced interrogation as an issue to attack Republicans. It is disgraceful that Democrats who discovered their outrage years after the fact are now braying for disbarment of the government lawyers who justified EITs and the prosecution of Bush administration officials who authorized them. Mrs. Pelosi is hip-deep in dangerous waters, and they are rapidly rising.

Well she fought tooth and nail against him to be Majority Leader..She smeared him pretty good.. She wanted Murtha. Murtha is next to be hung out to dry..
Personally from a political aspect I hope she hangs on..I love to watch circular firing squads. THe Democrats are so good at that.. But its not good for our country.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/cq/20090512/pl_cq_politics/politics3115318 From same article; This is a bald butt lie and a false statement too.
"It was my understanding at that time that Congresswoman Harman filed a letter in early 2003 to the CIA to protest the use of such techniques, a protest with which I concurred," Pelosi said in the Dec. 9, 2007, statement.
All Harmon asked in that letter was a simple question.. "Has the White House signed off on EIT also?" And asked the tapes of the interrogations not be destroyed so to show the usefulness and effectiveness of the techniques. Basically to cover Congresses ass for their official approval of EIT. .

Bush does not control Ultra Liberals being elected to Congress by the toilet bowl voting base in San Fran. Anything that comes out of that place is an absolute abortion. No president can control what happens there. Those liberals are going to vote consistently for the most socialist candidate they can.

Yes, I'm well aware of how the Speaker of the House gets voted in. My post was just a disclaimer since the PotUSA tends to get the blame for everything these days.

The blame here lies squarely with PELOSI.
