The AK74 - a 1974 model that succeeded the famous AK47 whose name instilled dread among U.S. troops fighting in the 1960s in Vietnam - was developed by the brand's originator, Mikhail Kalashnikov.
I had a eastern block AK a few years ago but sold it. I still have a Russian SKS from 1954 in the collection (Had a C&R FFL) , they were so much better that the Chinese junk made later.
