Well, I think he meant that it is Obama's decision to escalate this war. That is true. I think Bush saw we didnt get Osama after a year and knew he wasnt there anymore. Obama wants to keep up this ridiculous war though. I think Steele is right. Obama owns this now.

Then why the heck did Bush stay? By your reckoning, Bush knew it was a stupid conflict in October 2002 (as the war started October 7, 2001). But Bush remained president until January 2009. Bush had 6 years to stop it.

Because NATO was running it and we were part of a team under NATO control which gradually took over the entire country starting in 2003. I think NATO assumed control of all regions in 2006 and Bush kept meeting his obligations to NATO but kept american casualties low by not escalating this loser.
Operating under British Lieutenant General Nick Parker,[113] the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) includes soldiers from 42 countries with U.S. troops making up about half its force.[34] ISAF had initially been established as a stabilization force by the United Nations Security Council on December 20, 2001, to secure Kabul. Its mandate did not extend beyond this area for the first few years.[114] On August 11, 2003, NATO assumed political command and coordination of ISAF.[114] On July 31, 2006, ISAF assumed command of the south of the country, and by October 5, 2006, of the east - wikipedia
In any case blaming Bush for the conduct of a NATO run war is ridiculous. Once NATO had full control we should have given it some time to suceed and then backed out. The end of 2008 would have been the perfect time, but as I recall Bush was letting Obama call the shots to endure a smooth transition. He even let Obama make calls on Bailout spending.. Now Obama wants to win what the coalition couldnt? Oh yes because the idiot ran around trying to look presidential during the campaign touting how he would win it. I suppose he will use his superior community organizing experience to bring the Taliban to their knees. Getting out of there should have been his first act after taking office but his arrogance will not let him and has led to the worst months of American losses of the 10 year war under his regime.
In the War mongers 2 years as president he has managed to kill nearly half of the Americans that have died in a 9 year war. 529 out of 1159 american deaths in just 2009 and a few months of 2010 (which isnt over yet!!!!). Obama has many more months left in 2010 to KILL AMERICANS. .http://icasualties.org/OEF/ByYear.aspx
By the end of 2010, Obama will be responsible for 2/3 of our casualties in this war, but yet he doesnt own it? Grow up.
