Maybe they respect him because they aren't called by various nicknames. An air of formality.

Bush: "Next question, Stretch?"
Obama: "David Gregory, NBC News."

Not really. That is disrespect (if you REALLY stretch it, it was a JOKE) on the the presidents part. The other is disrespect on the part of the press (think they were joking?).

I have NO idea if they stood other times. This is one video, and could easily be spun to make it seem as one wanted. For that matter, they may not stand every time Obama comes in.

IF it is true however, it is a bias by people that are not (at least they arent supposed to be)

IF it is true however, it is a bias by people that are not (at least they arent supposed to be) Hannity ran a bunch of clips of both President's news conferences. Nobody rose when Bush came in... They always stand when Obama comes in.. Some even bow and curtsy. I saw a few reporters genuflect too.
