OK TODAY a hypothetical question..
astronmers have 100% PROOF a asteroid will impact our planet in 10 years, it will likely be a planet killer type of event.
The large asteroid is seen by much of the worlds population, as it came in unnoticed till it skipped off our atmosphere, doing minimal damage but its 200 mile size got everyone attention.
its due back to slame us in 10 years.
will congress and worlds governments be able to work effectively with one another long enought to protect our world?
or will the naysayers and political bickering take so long nothing can be done?

If you're going to say something like that, you need to provide a link to be taken seriously. :)

Oh, they would work together... to make a bunker where the wealthy and elite could be safe.
But before you would see plan to protect the rest of us, you would see the Jim Bunnings of the world demand we pay for it first. Then there would be a debate about who's taxes get raised. The would keep the debate going until they were ready to head for the bunker.
My only hope would be the EU governments.

I don't think it has anything to do with him hating rich people or not. He's calling a spade a spade. In it's current form, our government is by the rich, paid for by the rich, and for the rich.

Bob, hypothetically, I believe the Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Indians, and Americans would work with each other if the universe ever presented this problem. Until then, politics as usual.

Could congress gets it "act" together to work together and pass something quickly?
Sure, the Patriot Act is a good example of that. Written and passed almost unanimously by Congress within a month of 9/11.

On the other hand global warming could be that important, yet little happens.......
My real point is congress is so gridlocked they would likely just talk about what to do

Then why do you (HD) continue to want more of the same? So far, your fix for everything is more government. Why criticize the rich out of one side of your mouth while advocating more government to benefit the rich out of the other side?
