Looking back it appears dissatisfaction with bush caused his party to loose big.
Today only 22% of americans identify themselves as republicans.....
If the republican party had distanced themselves from bush and cared more about what the voters wanted, by say now later than the middle of bushes 2nd term would the republican party be in such bad shape today?
basically at the edge of having no power at all?

I think it is a cyclical thing and the GOP will rebound.

the 22% was from CBS news recently. They said that many identify themselves as republicans.
imagine being a party leader at this time.
they are close to loosing even the ability to be obstructionists:)

Failed republican economic policy.
I agree it is cyclical. Repubs fail on the economy. Dems fix it. People become more concerned about social policy, vote repub. Cycle repeats.

basically at the edge of having no power at all? Yet 46% voted Republican in the last election...Strange...
That 22% number is wrong but I will give you this. The Republican Party identification is down but your hitching too much emphasis on party ID rather than voter core belief and sentiment.
I think you need to take a cold shower and get with modern day real politics.. Its no longer Republicans vs. Democrats. Its now Smaller government vs. Big government.. The country is more Conservative and Moderate (76%) than Liberal (15%).

Your Marx boy is on his way out along with his criminal and Commie friends.. . One term Ala Jimmy Carter. Polosi out by 2010 and Reed gone with Obama in 2012. It will be a Conservative bull broom sweeping out the trash ... Then the rebuilding of our great nation begins.

:free-happy-smileys- That sentance makes no sense. But then again you got it from CBS...
stating you heard it here or there is no source. I suppose the rodent Katie Couric said it? :augentreher: She got her info from the slobbering Karen Harper. THe Obama proctology examiner.

Bear, I do agree that Congress will get a cleansing in 2010, young centralist liberty fighters will begin to take the House. It will be the grassroot libertarians vs the fringe left liberals. The people in the middle will get squeezed again. Out with the old and in with the new. I wouldn't be surprised if by 2012 we have some younger ex-Iraq/Afg war vets in their mid to late 30s that are anti-democractic expansionist slip into Congress. These guys have been there, done that, and understand that not all parts of the world are "ready" for free market economies and liberty just yet. And, force-feeding it down a nation's throat just doesn't work. Clinton coined it, Bush exploited it, and now the people reject it.

I did not forget about it. Computer quit working and i bought a new one. Took a week or so to get it.
I have to much fun pointing out the mistakes of the last 8 years and the luck we have in getting Barack Obama as our President.
Change we can believe in!

wrong. More people in the poll thought he had little or nothing to do with it. Only 5 out of 15 see it your way.
