The swine flu spreading across the world appears not a real killer. thank god.
But lets assume a different strain was spreading just as quickly across the globe. authorties suggest all but essential workers stay home, and dont go out at all.
do you have enough essentials like shelf stable food, prescriptions etc to hole up for a few weeks

My wife, son and I would survive for a month....we'd be really hungry, but we have enough food to make it last if we had to ration. We have no bottled water, so if something happened to the water supply, we'd be finished.

We could survive for a while. I have enough non perishables to ration out, and bottled water also. If bottles ran out, we also have our own water pump seperate from city or county water, assuming the contamination did not get into the ground water here.

I want to drill a well for the water. Have the machine, a version of a hydra drill.
there are streams nearby on the tv show brink they had a package of water purifier, very cheap.
They showed a bucket of putrid water, added dog poop, then the purifier, stired for 5 minutes, and filtered thru a cloth.
they drank the water.......
humans will die by day 3 of no water, better to be prepared.
you can live without food a month or two at least, justr be miserable but live.
without water your dead

Honestly, we've got more beer, wine and liquor in the house than bottled water or other liquids. If we got thirsty, the booze would have to keep us alive. As for food, the pantry is always full so we'd be all right there.

I get my water from Lake Erie...I'm not sure how "they" would contaminate the whole Lake. If I lost my water supply, I would guess it would be due to an attack on the electricity grid or the pumping stations. If either of those happened, I'd have to personally take my water from Lake Erie and boil it.

You and me both. :) I guess we'll die drunk if we suddenly lose water for an extended period of time :)

I'm good to go. We have our own water well and my trusty hurricane season generator always ready in case we lose electricity. Bring it on. After the last 5 years of hurricanes, I've learned all the lessons of what to always keep stocked.

Haha, honestly, some of them are not bad. The refried beans are ok, and the crackers and cheese are pretty good

I was quite surprised how good they tasted. But in all honesty, I hope I don't have to resort to that for lunch and dinner ever again...But if the govt brings a quarantine on us, dinner is served! :)

as usual you dont get it.
the disater I am talking about would leave the government able to do little.
a widespread plague would put you at risk even leaving you home to pick up food.
so even if the feds had food, or the stores were overflowing going to pick it up could spread the plague to you and your family......
other than essential services everyone would be ordered to stay home......
till the plague passed

Ahh, someone admitting they want to steal, and perhaps murder another human being. Gotta love what conservatives stand for.

No doubt as a good Christian, he will only steal from other Christian denominations, not to mention shoot Muslims on site.
Having people say their survivalist plan is to use their guns to steal from others is the best argument for repealing the second amendment.

I'm in no way backing up what Vurb said. But, unless you were in New Orleans or the surrounding areas after Katrina, you don't understand that having guns is a part of a survivalist plan. When law enforcement breaks down, you need your guns to defend yourself, your family, and property. I used to be anti-gun until I experienced it first hand. So repealing the second amendment would be insane with out first collecting every single gun in America.

verb advocates stealing from the unarmed rather than defending himself two very different things
