CBS Tuesday stood behind its decision to take a Super Bowl ad from Focus on the Family that has drawn fire from reproductive choice organizations.

The network said it does not reject advocacy ads out of hand, and added that it would consider "responsibly produced ads from all groups" for the "few" remaining spots in the broadcast.

The letter calls on CBS to reject what the groups call an anti-choice ad that advances Focs on the Family's Agenda.

They argue that CBS has rejected advocacy ads in the past, including from PETA, MoveOn.org and the United Church of Christ.

The spot in question is expected to feature Florida Gators quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Tebow and his mother talking about how she refused to have an abortion after she was advised to do so by doctors.

Strange they would accept this type of ad when they've rejected similar ones in the past.

Because of the "few" remaining spots. I could be wrong, but isn't the ad space sold out by now usually?

Great. I bet this will spark many drunken heated political debates in homes around the country on Super Bowl Sunday. :)

Personally I don't have a problem with it. Freedom of speech should allow all viewpoints to be heard. I just fear this will be a brief distraction from Sports, which I consider a break from the outside world and the ultimate uniter.

The message is positive, but, strange they would air it....just can open a can of worms.
What would they accept during a heated political environment?

Tebow will crash and burn in the NFL on his own anyway, I think the backlash from this ad should be the least of his worries...

He will if he plans on playing QB...thats for sure.

He may never make it in the NFL, then again, he may prove us all wrong and be one of the greats. We will see.

In my opinion though, Tebow really doesnt need the NFL for his well being. After his success at florida, and the following that he has there, the guy could be the most successful used car salesman in Florida if he wanted to. His life is set no matter what he decideds to do.

Honestly, I look for him to be coaching in the future.

His life is set no matter what he decideds to do.

I wouldn't be surprised if he just decides to go into the ministry.

Far too much negativity to a young man who's led an outstanding life.

Thats what I dont understand. Some people just seem to want him to fail because of this, and that baffles me.

I don't want him to fail. I think the majority of good people like the kid. He leads an honest life and that's wonderful. But sooner or later, he has to leave that bible bubble he's living under in Florida and see that the real world is a very sick place and not everything is solved by saying a hail-mary.

and not everything is solved by saying a hail-mary.Tebow's a Southern Baptist, we don't do hail mary's, that's catholics. ;)

But at his age, he has seen the "real" world (UF and Gainsville isn't exactly a bubble), and chooses to live above it. Nothing wrong with that, and very commendable.

I don't think negatively of him and I don't want him to fail unless he's playing the Browns. I just find people who evangelicalize (is that a word?) to be extremely annoying. Religion is a personal subject and means different things to different people. I want to watch Tebow play football....I don't care about what bible verses he's thinking about every game.

Without yet seeing the actual ad, from what I hear, all it is is Tebow's mother telling Tim that despite urging from the doctors to abort, she chose to have him.

Since it doesn't actually say to ban abortion, why is it controversial, since all it does is highlight a choice?

U of F has constantly been rated in the top 10 party schools in the entire nation. Yet this guy the SUPERSTAR of the team has been able to avoid all that and remain true to his core.

I think thats commendable. The guy could get any poon on campus. He could drink free anywhere in town. He could live the life of a king but he chose not to.

Well, let's not go too far. He is doing pretty well in the girlfriend department. It's not like he is taking no advantage of UoF ladies.

Well when the man could get the panties off of any girl in gainesville by just demanding it, he certainly has not been taking advantage of it to its fullest extent. I know id be tappin everyone of them who was above an 8 for sure, and give possible consideration to those 6-7s just for fun and maybe a 1 or 2 just to show I care.

In related news, an add for Gay-dating was rejected for airing rights during the Super Bowl...

CBS has rejected its proposed Super Bowl commercial because it features two men making out on a couch.

Mancrush.com spokeswoman Elissa Buchter told CNBC’s Darren Rovell that CBS said it was sold out of Super Bowl advertising time.

Rovell writes that as of Thursday, advertising time remained for the Feb 7 game. That raised the question of, if CBS is willing to air Tim Tebow’s pro-life spot, why not a commercial for a same-sex dating site?

Here's the commercial:
