Around here people often correlate earthquakes with weather.

If it is cold and raining and an earthquake hit, they will say it is due to the weather. If it is hot and sunny and an earthquake hits, they will say it is due to the weather.

I try to explain that a rise or fall of temperature by a few degrees to even 50 degrees only effects the temperature a few inches to a few feet in the ground. It cannot possibly effect the temperature or the conditions a few miles below the surface where temperature and pressure are so intense. Of course they will not listen to reason, they just say something like, "Last time we had an earthquake the weather was the same." I tell them, the weather in SoCal is pretty much the same 8 months of the year.
