Comments like that make me sick and remind me why this country has gone to shit. Everyone's mentality is backwards, they think people that work 14 hours a day deserve less pay. People that work 2 hours a day while they sit on their ass want more money!
That is why I support a fair tax. Flat tax on everyone, so EVERYONE pays their fair share.

So, everyone that makes less than $300k sits on their rears all day and only work 2 hours:augentreher:
I think what we need focus on is eliminating the loopholes the rich use with high priced tax attorneys to reduce the rate they pay. Even Warren Buffet acknowledges it is ridiculous that he pays a lower tax rate than his secretary.

If they make a lets just say a 10% flat tax, then Bill Gates will pay more tax than I do.
But I still don't agree with all those loopholes the rich get.

By the way, those who doubt what I say about Warren Buffet might find this video interesting.

No, that's not what I meant, people think the rich got rich by doing nothing. Most rich people worked their asses off to get there.
Flat tax solves the problem and no loopholes. Straight up flat tax.

That is so true. Most rich people put in the hours, made the investments, and did MOST of the work themselves. You do of course have some that simply had it handed to them of course also.

A lot of the poor and particularly the middle class also work their butts off and get nowhere.
Flat tax is fine. There just needs to be no loopholes. All income, from salary to capital gains to bonuses need to be taxed the same. Very few, if any, deductions.

Who's fault is that? Most poor people don't pay taxes. If you're stuck in the middle class, then use higher education or move to a more corporate environment. Maybe you need to move to a city or different state. The power is in YOUR hands to become rich. I don't buy the "they get nowhere" BS, cry me a river...
Personally, why would someone want to be rich? I'm happy with making enough money to provide for my family.

That is not the fault of the rich though. That is simply life.

I'm not saying it is their fault (accept in white collar criminal cases). I'm just saying it's foolish to say the deserve it for all that hard work, when that is true of so many others.

What do they deserve it for then if not the hard work they put in? Do they not deserve it at all? I am just not understanding your stance completely.
I wish everyone that worked hard could get the breaks, but that does not happen unfortunately.

Yes, they (well, some) deserve it for their hard work, but lot's deserve it fr their hard work, but don't get it. That's the point I'm trying to make. Because of that, we need to worry less about congratulating the rich for their accomplishments, but instead getting the others what they deserve as well.

The fair tax is not a flat tax. I support a flat tax on every dollar earned not the hair brained Fair tax scheme

Lets not forget though that hard work is not the end all of becoming rich. Some people simply make better choices, are in the right place at the right time, had help from people that had done it before, or are simply smarter.
Sometimes hard work is not enough to make it to the level that we want to be at, but someone that works hard should be proud of the fact that they did so.
