Got a new charcoal grill. The Weber Performer One Touch.

Gonna try it out tonight. It is charcoal, but has a propane ignition system. You use the little camping propane bottles (or a big tank with the right hose) to light your charcoal without lighter fluid. Gives the convenience of gas, with the taste of charcoal (and no lighter fluidy taste mixed in).

let me know how that goes. My grill is buried under a fresh 6-8" of snow on top of the foot and a half we already had.

What are you making?

I unburied mine the other day only to run out of propane halfway through a long cook.....I really need to get a natural gas line run outside. :)

How long until the coals are ready after you light the propane?

I left the gas on for about 5 minutes. That got the coals started. Then shut off the gas, and shut the lid, about 5 more minutes and it was over 550 degrees.

Very convenient, and not lighter fluid taste. I forgot how good a webber grill cooks.

This is the one I got. The propane hooks up under the table, and it also has a dry storage bin for the charcoal.

I LOVE the ash removal system on it. There is a sweeper in the bottom of the grill that puts the ash into the bin underneath. Twist, remove, and dump. Very simple.

Congrat's on your new toy! And good choice. I have 3 Weber's myself....

-3 burner Weber Genesis with a natural gas line tied to it on the deck.
-Weber Que (portable, runs on small propane cylinders. I keep this one in the garage and use it during the winter).
-Weber Smokey Mountain (smoker).

PS, you're making me jealous of your BBQ'ing. I've been snowed in as of recent. We've been having nothing but indoor cooked comfort foods. Can't wait until spring so I can get back out there!

Yeah, there is nothing like cooking on the grill! We are picking up a pizza tonight and I almost want to apologize to the grill for neglecting it for a night. lol

How much did it cost, where did you get it? I'm almost ready to look at getting one. HIFI and I can't decide if we want charcoal or gas. There is a cool grill at Target, I think it's charcoal, and it has an add-on little side thing that you can use as a smoker. I'm looking at that, but I like the look of this one too.

Any of you northern guys been able to fire up the grill in this snow? Here it is March 9 and I can just now see the top of my grill. It drifted to 6½ ft back there. I don't feel like shoveling 3 ft of compacted wet snow to get to it., I'll smoke up the house instead. I have a griddle on my stove with a commercial blower on the roof.http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/DAYTON-Exhaust-Ventilator-4HZ37?Pid=search

Mal, it was around $330. It is higher than most other charcoal grill, but webbers last longer, and IMHO they simply cook better.
