If the Government would just stays out of the way and let the markets decide things, all the crap would get sorted out quicker.

That's 2 trading days in a row that stocks are on the retreat....They also retreated on the threat of more inflation from our wonderful treasury czar.

hey GM needs to go bankrupt, just to prove that bankruptcy wouldnt of saved it when it goes out of business altogether.

taxpayers will be picking up the tab as imported vehicles take over completely like the ford fiesta built in mexico.

the bigger killer is china and india, they will happily take GMs disenfranchised dealers.

Without bankruptcy GM would have to pay millions per dealer it sheds, and needs to be rid of 2/3 of its existing dealers to become profitable

What it needs is to be free of its unions

Actually I'm a independent. I just voted for mostly Dems.

I believe unions had there day back during the coal mining, steel workers and teamster days. But now we don't need them, there are agency's to go after business for unfair work environments. There are laws for minimum wage.

My whole problem with unions and automakers are that they make more than what they deserve. My uncle works on a AF base, he had to take a test to work on the planes, actually they get evaluated every year, but the people who sit on a chair to watch a machine all day makes $32 a hour and he makes $25, plus he's been doing that job, including when he was in the AF, 40 some years.

Obama will hand GM over to the unions before this is said and done.

the percentage of GM vehicles built by union workers is pretty small, everything but final assembly has been farmed out to suppliers to save costs.

even dashboards are assembled by contractors...........

Greetings first post here...

My feeling is that the government should not be trying to save these companies. America was built on free enterprise and should remain that way.

Companies may die but new ones will grow and flurish in the ruins of these older companies.

I also do not like the government telling CEO's and Execs how much money they can make. Again let free enterprise rule. Some will sink but others will make the needed changes and will learn how to swim and thrive.

Goodbye GM, this is a problem that you made yourself.

(BTW normally I lurk at sites like these.. but if I see something good I will jump in.) :)

So Carl, why is the market reacting so badly if this is just another good move by Obama? I am curious as to your opinion on this
