New site issue?

When I type www.sonicbabble.com into my browser (firefox), I get a blank white screen. Same thing happens when I google "sonicbabble" and click on the top result. I can get into the site by using www.sonicbabble.com/forums/index.php

Is it on my end, or is anybody else experiencing the same?

Mad has been having issues with the server people again. May have to change hosts.

That may or may not be related to your problem

Edit: I just googled sonicbabble on IE and it worked just as it always does.

I am getting it too, noticed it today in the afternoon....the company who hosts the site, is having issues with their "upgrade" ....it sucks. if they can't fix this soon i will move it o another site.

cant get to homepage here either.

Mad try disabling addons in the admin-cp. Its likely one is not working properly. If it was the host itd be rare that it only happens on homepage and not the other pages.

White page.. You should disable all the homepage addons (except VBadvance) and try that. I mean if the forum pages work, that means the server database is fine. unless VBadvandced became corupt when they did the back up, you can try reinstalling that.

it think it might be a duplicate index file in the root folder causing it to not resolve correctly....sound possible?

Well if u had an index.html file and index.php file that could be it. As most broswers will load .html before .php. so that could explain why some people and pcs see blank and some don't. They could have the .php cached. So remove index.html (rename it like indexold.html or somthing) that should clear it

No, but it stays that way when you are on a pda. Or it does for me. Ipod touch and the blackberry.

Edit: Strangly when I use Bolt on the berry, the full site loads. On th default browser or mobile safari, it brings up the mobile version.

Steven, what you are saying is rightbut i have not added add-ons or hacks since Monday. This started yesterday as far as I can tell. I am now thinking when they switched the server the server ip changed (which it did) and the config.sys file did not get changed so maybe it is looking at old stuff? The ip address ofthe server is not the same as it says in the config.sys file.

any other thoughts?

i am going to try and re-upload all the base files tonight after basketball.

I will look at that after I get the white page fixed. I am going to try a couple things tonight. The site will be down for maintenance for a time later tonight. I will post a note.

hmm the only spot I know of for VB where you put any IP information is in the config file for the database.. But in that you should just use " localhost " as the IP.

My guess though is its a VBAdvance issue, so id start with that addon first. You can also do this upload a index.html file and just write anything in the file "Hey Im madtown" whatever. Then try to goto www.sonicbabble.com and see if it works if your index.html works just fine then its likely an addon issue.. Also checkout the .htaccess file in your webroot folder.. Make sure nothing looks strange (like its trying to do any forwarding or denying access to anything)

Other then that I cant really think of much (Aside the reinstall of VBadvance) (or if you havent already disable all the addons (its pretty simpleto do) and disable the other "widgets" on the vbadvance page. Just turn them off in the VBCMPS area so the page you use for homepage is generic.

Update:

Our server company, aplus.net, I have used since 03'. They have always had great service, been reasonably priced, and offered easy interfaces to do stuff as my knowledge was limited in the beginning.

We ran on a Linux server, which I preferred over Windows, up until Nov27th. On that day our information began to be mirrored, or duplicated, on a new server(which is a linux/windows hybrid) as aplus was upgrading everyone to a new system. When the upgrade was complete they simply turn off the old server and we seamlessly switch exclusively to the new one.

The update was complete on Dec 4th. As most of you know we lost from Nov 27th until Dec 4th due to issues they had with the upgrade. We also have noticed slow loading of the site, stats of the website no longer compiling, the inability of Goggle, Yahoo, MSN, and others to index , or read, our site too later display in their respective search engines, and now the main page issue with it being white.

I am off starting Friday for almost 2 weeks. Unless all this clears up by next Monday, we will be switching to a new server.
I am done spending hours on the phone and having nothing fixed.
If any of you have experience with a reputable web hosting company please PM me with their name and I will take a look at them.
