Pretty sad that even IF we wanted to join, our debt is too high to allow us consideration.

3.6 Trillion dollars in the blink of an eye. Obama is proof that there are terrorist sleeper cells in this country. He was born, snuck into this country and groomed to bring it down.

I think it was a hypothetical to point out the debt. We are killing ourselves with it, everything else aside.

Considering France keeps getting annual exemptions from the rule, along with other EU countries, I don't think that stat really means anything.
And besides, the rule isn't a rule for EU membership, it's a rule for adopting the Euro as your currency.
From wiki: wiki
The euro was established by the provisions in the 1992 Maastricht Treaty. In order to participate in the currency, member states are meant to meet strict criteria such as a budget deficit of less than three per cent of their GDP, a debt ratio of less than sixty per cent of GDP, low inflation, and interest rates close to the EU average.
Senator Gregg needs to check his research better.
