The shirts — intended to foster school spirit — sport a vertical blue line down the center with the words "Penn State White Out" emblazoned across the chest, forming a design that some say resembles a cross. The back of the shirt depicts the same blue line obscured by the words, "Don't be intimated … It's just me and 110,000 of my friends." Roughly 30,000 of the shirts have been sold.

Penn State says it has received six complaints about the shirt, including one from the Anti-Defamation League's Philadelphia branch, from people who say it connotes a Christian cross. The logo design also has become the focus of controversy in the student newspaper, "The Daily Collegian," which has received several letters to the editor on both sides of the issue.

Good lord...oops, did not mean to start a controversy

In about 10 days, the PSU students will have something new to cry about. :D

Haha, at least maybe then they will have something that makes sense to complain about.

I agree. Tough luck for the people who don't like the shirts. We still have freedom of expression, right? If the students wanted to, they could all show up at the game wearing T-shirts with an actual cross and a picture of ,*gasp* , Jesus on it.

Yes. But I still think it is ridiculous to imply that Jesus is cheering for your team.

Apparently they didn't pray hard enough last year, going 6-6 in the regular season.

Its a picture of Jesus cheering? got a source for that? What we have here is you interpreting the picture so that you can slam religion.

Everyone on campus calls it "Touchdown Jesus."

If you think it is ridiculous I think it has religious connotation, just think how Penn State feels about their shirt.

It's a private CATHOLIC school. They can print a portrait of Jesus on every hashmark if they so choose!

And Penn State can't have a t-shirt that COINCIDENTALLY looks like a cross? My point wasn't to say Notre Dame can't do what they do, but that the lines between football and religion are continually being crossed at colleges anyway. And Penn State wasn't really trying to.

I guess we should ban the letter "t".

They can call it whatever they want too. There are thousands of paintings just like it all over the world with jesus holding up his arms blessing the masses. Your continued arguement is just ignorant.
