Cripple them? So their sole function since 9/11 has been torture?

Not at all, and not everyone agrees that this is torture, in the context of what they were doing and why. I can see both sides to the argument however.

I say it cripples them in that it takes away an optional way of gettting information (much needed information in these cases), even if it is questionable.

Well, than I would hesitate to say "cripple." Impede, maybe, but not cripple.

Fair enough.

Dont' worry all you Dems and Repubs, they will just add torture to Patriot Act version 3. All will be fine, your govt will protect you! Go back to grazing! :)

Anyone who does not agree its torture, should have it done to them. Then get back to me if you think its torture.

Torture is an ineffective way to get information. If you are innocent and being tortured you will say anything to get it to stop. Its like the old Witch hunts.. We will burn you alive. If you come back your a witch if not well then your soul will rest in heaven...

Like I said steven, I can see both sides of the argument. Difference of opinion.

Torture is an ineffective way to get information.

Ok, for those that think it is torture (and you are entitled to that opinion), and that it should not be done, not even to keep us safe, what should they have done? Should they have just said, "Pretty please tell us?"

Just curious what better course of action we should have taken in the interests of keeping America safe.

The same way local law enforcement solves cases.. They dont have to torture to find a murderer or the unibomber...

It just DOESN'T work that way when dealing with Al Qaeda. These aren't local folks that live down the street!!!!!!!! You liberals can justify anything. :augentreher:

I agree. There are vast differences in local (or even state and federal) law enforcement doing investigations on US soil, versus where they would have to go to get the evidence in many of these cases.

I don't. We found out very early in this war that prisoners were being tortured and beheaded on the other side. Even innocent journalists. There simply is no comparison in treatment.

OK so the excuse to break international law is what?

how a rogue band of terrorists treat others.

japan had the battan death march, nazi germany the gas chambers........

jeez international law means nothing? in your world??

the bush adminstration who approved torture should be proscuted and sent to supermax.

as a example so other presidents dont do stuff like this again!
