A CBS News employee is accused of trying to extort $2 million from David Letterman, forcing the late-night host to admit in an extraordinary monologue before millions of viewers that he had sexual relationships with female employees.

Letterman said that "this whole thing has been quite scary." But he mixed in jokes while outlining what had happened to him, seeming to confuse a laughing audience at Thursday's taping about whether the story was true.

I don't understand why it's anybody's business who anyone sleeps with. Even politicians. If it's consentual sex, then it's nobody's business but the party's involved. If we aired every person's dirty laundry, all the headlines we would ever see would be about so-n-so had sex with so-n-so. If I understand correctly, it wasn't even the women who were complaining. So who are we to complain about how he handles it?

I don't understand why it's anybody's business who anyone sleeps with. Because it compromises the supervisors/subordinate relationship. He should be immediately terminated. The subordinate has no choice but to say that she consented to it for fear of reprocussions. I think that is why it cannot be tolerated.

bob barker got away with it so letterman will too.

stars are above such terminations.

so CBS fires letterman who gets hired at ABC and is back on the air fast.

while CBS has a empty theatre and mad viewers who boycot the network........

since most people think its no big thing CBS is powerless, except new zero tolerance policies will be enacted, then ignored the next time this occurs.

verb it could be worse, letterman could be replaced on CBS with a nice funny black comedian:)

Vurb she totally has a choice. People are sued all the time for these things.

If it was not concensual, we would or will know about it soon.

That depends on if she had evidence and wasnt afraid of retaliation. I think now we will probably see the women come out and tell their stories. It really doesnt matter, because even if its concensual it leads to discrimination of the subordintes that were NOT sleeping with him. Did the ones that were get favors? raises? This scumbag should be fired.

Good point. Was it beyond just sex? Were raises given? favors?

Dang it, I think I just made myself sick.

me and jen have split, getting divorced.

my issue with verb he routinely goes nuts like fire the scumbag, while he is likely guilty of the same sort of things.

he is a admitted bigot. bet he avoids doing business with blacks. well thats discrimnation.

verb lives in a glass house and hasnt learned to not throw rocks. i thought most kids learned that before age 5.......

bigots really bug me. a old friend was a bigot.

then one day his hernia strangulated, and he had emergency surgery.

both his surgeon and heart doc were black and he was in no position to shop around.

he liked to talk about blacks as spear chuckers:(

I enjoyed point out if they didnt know exactly where to chuck those spears he would of died..........

he has lost most of his bigotry. there are bad white people but also bad blacks.......

The owner of that outfit hosed a newsbabe that was working for him and married her. No wonder there are no sexual harrassment grounds according to him. Its a freaking roman orgy over there at CBS.

Couldn't agree more.

I'm sure celebrities/people with money are targets of black mail a lot more than we know.

Without a doubt it had to be a hard decision, but bringing that criminal to justice was the right call.

Pretty former "Late Show" staffer Stephanie Birkitt revealed in her diary that she continued having sex with boss David Letterman even after moving in with her CBS-producer boyfriend, who later allegedly tried to extort him over the affair, sources told The Post yesterday.

As long as Letterman continues to get good ratings and the show makes money, then he will be going no where.

Many congressmen caught in sex scandals do resign, unless they are liberals. american athletes are sleeping with subordinates? I dont think cheerleaders WORK for them. Wives are not employed by their husbands either. If you were trying to make a point you sure missed it. You should get someone to help you with your posts.

Uh oh.

On Howard Stern this morning, he is reporting there might be a Letterman Sex Tape out there soon to be released. Allegedly, some of his wild romps were caught on a security camera that was still running when Dave and the Intern were doing the deed after hours....

Not sure I'd want to see that butt-ugly man doing the deed. OTOH, I wonder what the intern looks like.

Ahh, I think the media is just using a bad photo, Here is another couple shots of Brooke Hundley, Steve Phillips girl.

No looker, but better than that one shot. She is a little chunky, though. But I have no room to talk there.

At least Dave's girl is way better than his wife:
