Ohio has asked for us to declare online purchases on state income tax returns for a few years now. They then deduct what you owe from your refund. Still, I do a lot of online shopping.
Worse, still, Ohio would like taxes charged based on the county you live in. Ohio counties have the authority to have their own sales tax. You used to be able to head for a low tax county to avoid some of it, particularly for big purchases like cars.

Here in the Pittsburgh area, the sales tax is 7%, but if you live in another county that charges 6% and go to the Pittsburgh area to buy a car they automatically charge 6%.
