WASHINGTON (AP) — The family of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. has charged the foundation building a monument to the civil rights leader on the National Mall about $800,000 for the use of his words and image — an arrangement one leading scholar says King would have found offensive.

No different than companies paying royalties to use an artist's music.

I see no problem with this. We cant be for capitalism, and against this IMO.

If so, what is the difference? Vurb? Mad? I am curious what you see that I do not

Also, lets not leave this out

The foundation has been paying the King family for the use of his words and image in its fundraising materials.

Perhaps there was a prior agreement.

I agree. The King's should be able to profit if they can. OTOH, if the foundation doesn't want to pay, they can stop building memorials to MLK. I bet the King family would rethink their fees if that happened.
