It seems as time passes the opposites grow farther apart and less willing to find common ground or compromise. I get the feeling until this comes to a head nothing will change.
Thoughts?

Kind of hard to have a civil war like this. It's big cities against rural America more than anything.

I think the possibly of state succession could be become a reality sooner than later. The battle for state rights is taking place now as the Federal govt grows even larger.
Also, I think the war would be centralist Americans (libertarians and independents) vs the right and left combined. The fringes of the right (neo-cons) and left (progressive liberals) are the destabilizing factors that will need to be checked as both continue to increase the size of the Federal govt and destroy America's core principles.

Agreed. Though I would say that maybe an overly broad characterization of the present day scenario. Maybe , as Fallout mentioned, session is a more reasonable course of action.

Actually, maybe we would be better off if some of the Red states succeed
Mississippi
Alabama
West Virginia
Montana
South Dakota
Alaska
If they left them maybe some other states could get a fair shake.
If they are so worried about redistributing wealth, maybe we should stop for them :)

Pretty sure Obama won Virginia in November. Same with North Dakota.

SO? A lot of misguided independents and republicans voted for him but now see him for the commie that he is. A lot of republicans simply didnt vote. I think this clowns antics are enraging conservatives, vets and gun owners.

Well if a state succeeds, they need to make sure they have enough money for hospitals, roads, schools and clean up after disasters.
IMO I don't like taxes, I hate to pay taxes but taxes are needed to help fund or fix things.
The bail outs were uncalled for but all you people who are against the bailouts are also against firing of CEOs or getting the money back that they used for bonuses.

I think some Americans need to come to grips with the fact they lost and quit being poor losers.

I think some Americans need to come to grips with the fact they lost and quit being poor losers.Same could have been said 4 years ago, 8 years ago, or any past election for that matter.

I think some Americans need to come to grips that the country is broke and we can't keep printing money out of thin air. But, again, the same people screaming for redistribution of wealth now will be screaming for more help when inflation hits, gas is $4/gallon, and food goes up in price once the markets finishes correcting itself from all this big govt intervention.

Not really, no worse than the hatred towards Reagan in the 80's.
