Ok, I couldnt care less about Miley Cyrus, but we are talking about a 16 yr old girl. Wrap your mind around that.
What 41 yr old man, a fairly successful actor at that, talks crap on national radio about a 16 YR OLD GIRL.
Sure, she has done some silly things, so what? SHE IS A KID! We all did stupid stuff growing up, we just did not have the media watching every thing we did.
So good job Jamie, while I dont plan on every seeing a Miley movie or buying any of her music (although my daughter might at some point), your childish behavior has ASSURED that I wont see or buy yours anymore. GROW UP

He is an idiot. Except for "In Living Color" I can't think of anything else he has done that is any good.
BTW....If your daughter is anything like mine, she will love her plus The Jonas Brothers and HSM.:free-sick-smileys-1:free-happy-smileys-

I thought he was good in Ray, but it seems like after that role he became arrogant. Sad when that happens. Will Smith kind of did the same thing after Ali.
Oh boy, I cant wait for it.....

Never seen Ray or Ali.
The day when she stops watching Winnie the poo and start watching those shows is a sad day, hell she loves Pokemon, I don't even know what the hell a Pokemon is.:free-happy-smileys-

I moved this thread because a news report brought up an interesting point.
Should Foxx receive the same backlash that Imus got for the comments he made?

Given your conservative views, I'm betting we agree on abortion, but that's another thread. :) Unfortunately, not much else.

Hey, at least we can discuss them. I am open to hearing everyones views and trying to understand why they think like they do.

I understand that, however the backlash Imus got was from more groups than just the FCC. I have heard little about the Foxx story so far, and he seems to be getting no bad press as of yet.

All 100 people who listen to foxx probably are outraged... Not to mention there is a difference between fox and imus. One is a comedian the other is suppose to be a 'serious' person. I dont think their should of been outrage for either case. But clearly the two are differnt.

Yes, however it is the idea of what was said that led to the bad press that Imus got. Where is Jessie now? Or Al? Double standard?

No double standard, first off Miley is white, so Al or the other nimrod wont be coming to her defense.
Then when it is OK for Howard Stern to say anything he wants about anything or anybody, then everyone else has free reign.

I guess I am just put off by the childishness of a grown man saying those types of things about a child.

There is a channel on Sirius called the Foxxhole. I assume that is what he was on when this happened. I have not listened to it unless I hear a second as I channel surf.

16 year old girls are all annoying little brats who don't know anything and spend all their energy on attention whoring. If I knew what made people grow up I'd beat the spoiled little whores with it till they mature or die, whichever comes first.
OK maybe I'm not very fond of teenagers.

I do not know how old you are, but I bet you were not the best kid on the block either....none of us were I would wager.
In any case, that is a pretty jaded, and sad opinion as far as I am concerned.
Are teenagers wrapped up in drama? Sure. We KNOW that. They are kids..what do you expect. Hormones, they dont know better.
Should they be called out on a national radio show by a 41 YR OLD MAN for it??? IMHO NO.
Now tell me who is childish.

Seriously Noob, your posts up until then (even though I did not agree with many of them) had been well thought out and intelligent. That one was not. It seemed childish, for whatever reason. I hope you can see that, and I also hope you were kidding.
Just my opinion, and you are of course free to disagree:thumbup:

I was just trying to inject a little humor into the thread and failed apparently.
Honestly I don't think people should be given special treatment and shielded from criticism no matter their age or status. In this case Miley Cyrus celebrity status shouldn't grant her any immunity from badmouthing. Her work and persona are free for anyone to comment on, be it good or bad comments.

No, do not misunderstand me. Foxx has EVERY right to say what he said. He has freedom of speech, and I will defend his right to say that each and every day.
That said, I do not see the need for his comment
He is a star, she is a star.
He is 41.....she is 16
What does he have to gain? I can see what he has to lose, I simply can not see what he had to gain from the comment. It is classless, and childish, and as a father he should have known better. Would he care if someone told his underage daughter to make a sex tape? Would he care if one of the people on his show called her a B***h? CHances are he would. What father wouldnt? Act or not....
That was my whole point the entire time.
Yeah he apologized....after he was asked about it on national TV....wow, way to stand up Jamie...

I don't see how his age or his status has any bearing on if he's allowed to comment on her. You're saying he has the right to such comments yet you're chastising him for it.
He was just talking crap about a currently popular celebrity, a common theme found throughout many radio shows.

I can support his right to do something, and be against him doing it.
He absolutely has the RIGHT to say anything he wants, he simply does not seem to have the smarts to know when he shouldnt.
You simply do not seem to be getting my point. I may be on my own here, I just have a big problem with a GROWN man talking about a CHILD that way.
That brings up a good question.
Would you tell that to the average 16 yr old? Guy or girl.
Because I seem to be getting that it is ok because she is a celeb.

Ok, so you would have NO problem with the average 41 year old man telling a random average 16 year old girl to go make a sex tape? That is a totally acceptable comment to make. I am just asking to be sure I understand.
Edit:
Or reverse the sexes if you want

16 year olds don't turn my crank so I doubt I'd recommend any of them go make a sex tape.
As far the comment itself it's a typical attack on female celebrities who are expected to have short lived careers. He might as well have claimed she'll go into a drug spiral or get fake tits too for all the originality his comments have.

Yeah, whether you are turned on by them really wasnt the point
And you still did not answer my question.
Is that kind of comment acceptable in your eyes between the average adult and child?
Or is it the celebrity that makes it ok? And if so, why?

A 40 yo man should have better things to do than criticize a 16 yo girl. He's entitled to his opinion but, seriously, what purpose does it serve? Maybe she makes more money than he does or something and he's just jealous. Who knows.

Foxx is an idiot, but I do agree. Once you become a star the gloves are off. Plus if she can date a 20 year old when she is 15, then some badmouthing from a 40 something shouldn't matter.

I think people stop being children long before they turn 16.
It's amusing even though I think teenagers are immature and generally idiots that I think they're capable of far greater maturity than you're giving them credit for.
Or is it the celebrity that makes it ok? And if so, why?
It's OK but the celebrity status makes it extra OK.
I'm just not seeing why she or anyone else requires protection like what you're implying. I'm sure they can handle it.
What purpose does it serve? Now millions know he has a radio show. When few knew in the first place. Seems like a great strategy.
I doubt he had free publicity in mind at the time but I'm sure he'll take it.
