Exactly. The regulatory process works according to empty conjecture and political incentives. Politicians want more regulation but have no desire to get input from people who actually buy and sell in these markets. Regulation is all about gaining power over markets, and power over markets translates into campaign contributions. It'd no longer about what's good for the market. More regulation and more government intrusion is the last thing we need.
