U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton's temper flared on Monday when a Congolese university student asked for her husband's thinking on an international matter.

"My husband is not secretary of state. I am," an obviously annoyed Clinton replied sharply.

A week after former President Bill Clinton traveled to North Korea to secure the release of two detained American journalists and stole the limelight from the start of his wife's first trip to Africa, Clinton was clearly nettled by the question at a town hall forum in Kinshasa.

"You want me to tell you what my husband thinks?" she replied incredulously when the male student asked her what "Mr. Clinton" thought of World Bank concerns about a multibillion-dollar Chinese loan offer to the Democratic Republic of Congo. . "If you want my opinion, I will tell you my opinion. I am not going to be channeling my husband," she said.

The question was left unanswered as the moderator of the event quickly moved on.

Haha, she got a little ticked.
This probably helped our image:rolleyes:

I was wondering if there was a translation problem.

If so, that is hardly his fault.

In any case, even if that is what he asked, why get pissed like that, in another country. It can not help our image.

Supposedly, the guy meant to ask about Obama's position, but the translator misspoke.

Bad reaction, but she has been on a massive 7 country tour, and a bit jetlagged.

Big oops on the translater's part, but she should have maintained her cool. I suspect the jetlag did not help. :)

My point exactly. If the trip is too much at once, scale it back, or take a longer time in between stops. I know that her job is very demanding, and people do make mistakes, but this could have been easily avoided.

Those leaders in 3rd world countries have no respect for women, I don't blame her for going off. Imagine the BS that Condi Rice dealt with when in the Middle East.

Its not the 3rd world countries image or respect for our Sect of State we care as much about. Do we have any video of Condi losing it? One of the reasons the middle east has so little respect for women is exactly as exemplified by the emotional out burst by Hilliary and stereotyped if not typified by such demonstrations of lack of emotional control. Womanly weakness by men and women is the most despised of traits by the Middle East.
