Driving a subway is so easy an 8-year-old could do it – and one straphanger claims that's who he saw behind the controls of his train.

Jules Cattie, a 41-year-old lawyer who lives on the East Side, was shocked when he saw a young child at the helm, next to the driver, of his Lexington Avenue express train Sunday, according to the Daily News. And the MTA says it's launched "a vigorous and thorough investigation" into the allegation.

"I saw him driving. He couldn't have been more than 8 or 9," Cattie told the News. " I thought, 'This is really dangerous.' That has to be the craziest thing I've ever seen."

Oh geez..  Its not like the kid was steering the GD thing. With all the safety trips locks and over rides built into the tracks and trains I bet a 9 year old could drive those things. Get a life FCS.

Yeah.. because some "kid" was driving. In all the cases somebody probably was not watching the operator. Your dad ever let you "drive"/steer the car.when you where a kidling? This kid was no more "driving" that train than you where your dads car.
This clown needs to get a life and stop worrying about stupid stuff. He is a lawyer.:rolleyes:... with the name Jules:free-happy-smileys-.. . or did you not notice?

I never said it was because some kid was driving. Just pointing out that it is not as "safe" as you made it out to be. Why put another factor into the list of things that "could" happen.

The kid had no business in the cab, if this is true.

I would probably feel safer with the operator overseeing a 9 year old kid "drive" the train than if the operator was bored and distracted. He is probably paying more attention to whats going on with the kid at the helm. It is as "safe" as I make it out to be. Its not like the train can swerve off course and run into on coming traffic and hit a tractor trailer. The next thing you will want no kids "flying" in the **** pit of a 737 at 40,000 ft.

Joey, do you like movies about gladiators?

Seriously, though, the kid was just up front. The operator was still no dount the one in control.
