If Cuba ever mattered geopolitically it was only during the Cold War as a potential Soviet base. Today the Castro regime is a human tragedy, not a security threat.

It is that way now, however they could still be a liability for us. While we do not have to worry about Russia, there are some other countries that would love to have a working relationship with them

So just keep the embargo on them while the people in Cuba suffer? We are isolating people that do not pose a threat to us. I just don't see how an embargo is necessary....its not like they are behaving the same as North Korea or Iran.

No, I am not saying that. This may actually be a good idea on the part of Obama, I just think we need to use caution in how we deal with them, and how we react to other countries trying to get a foothold there. Perhaps now is the time to open the door though. We will see

cuba can use the tourism business, be a good trading partner with the US will keep them in line.
heck i would like to see cuba, and have no connections there

I have seen cuba from the water. Looks like any other island in the sea down there, actually a pretty place from what I could tell.

Yeah I have seen it from a cruise ship. Look at most cruise ships they sail AROUND cuba.
Its set to be a popular destination once visiting is no longer illegal........
